My name is Helena and I translate from English into European Spanish.
Translation and localisation are a big step to the world. As a translator, my work is not only to translate a text, but also to adapt it to the target culture and context. With the recent advances in technology, globalization is now a reality and the knowledge of languages has increased, which allows people, more than ever, to get to know all kinds of audio visual products from different countries. However, it could never be compared with the fact of experiencing it in your own language.
In the case of video games and software localization, this is especially relevant. It allows players and users to experience games in their own culture and it means that the product will be able to reach to a wider market.

LQA Testing
I have always loved languages and that is why I started learning English when I was only 4 years old. I decided I wanted to study something related to languages, so I went to Uni and started a Bachelor’s Degree in English Philology in Zaragoza, my home town. While studying my degree, I also learnt German and French, which gave me a great and different point of view due to their close connection to the English language.
It was during my Uni years that I discovered the translation world and I just knew that was the path I needed to follow. When I finished my degree I moved to Sevilla to start a Master’s Degree in Audio Visual Translation.
My experience living abroad, in Scotland, was the perfect opportunity to improve my English skills and try to find a way to make a living as a translator. It was there that I found a job as LQA Tester, which provided me the opportunity to start my career in the translation industry. After a these past years working in th industry, I consider that I have a much better understanding of the whole translation process and the importance of quality, deadlines and attention to detail.
I am specialised in video games and software. I have worked in several projects for different platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS and Steam.
Learning new things is always in my plans, and therefore, I have worked in different fields, such as tourism, food/beverage and health related translations, which I really enjoyed.
